RGR was started to create an out reach supporting mental health of veterans and first responders by getting people active and accomplishing tasks in the great outdoors. Having fitness and a community infinitely improves your quality of life and we want to give that to the world.

How we started

Rio Grande rucking was founded by US Army Veteran Juan Garcia to create a community based on rucking, fitness, and people wanting to push themselves. People are stronger together and we aim to do just that!!

What do I need to Ruck

All you need to start rucking is a backpack, a water source ie. camelback or water bottle and some sort of weight. A rule of thumb is 20 lbs for women and 30 lbs for men but is by no means an absolute. Rucking is adjustable to everyone via weight, speed, and distance.
