OUR STORY

Returning to Alaska we saw there was no boys competition volleyball. Not like we have for girls. Our son had fallen in love with volleyball & had gained a passion for it. After months of conversations with the community: we built it: Legacy Academy.

The purpose:
1. Develop Boys Volleyball
2. Give boys vision & exposure to opportunity
3. Have Fun & Develop Life Skills
4. Keep Christ at the Center

To us, it's more than a boys volleyball program: we're building leaders. We're building lives.

We've seen so much of our youth struggling to manage emotions, and losing a vision for their lives at young ages. Increases in mental health challenges: depression, and suicide attempts.

Our boys deserve better.

Each practice starts with a 3-minute charge on Godly character & managing pressure. Then we train & develop skills based on these 3 Pillars: Honor. Integrity. Mastery.

We meet every boy where they're at in skill level & work with them to reach their goal.

Meet the Coaching Staff

Program Head Coach

Program Director & Head Coach, Arielle Schram, is leading the charge as a former D2 collegiate volleyball player & huge advocate for youth athletics! Arielle cut her teeth in Florida with coaching high school girls volleyball at the varsity level. Additionally has coached middle school girls and just over the last two years was introduced to coaching boys middle varsity and assisting at the club level. Since 2004 she's coached in Florida, Colorado, California and now here in Alaska.

Coach Schram's dedication to strengthening the mental fortitude in our youth, her commitment to Christ, and her strength in foundational skills development meeting each player where they’re at to launch them to the next level, is the very DNA of this incredible program.

Head Coach, 15Us

What an exciting time to have Dan Saleutogi on our coaching staff! Dan plays competitive men's club volleyball with Tamali'i Men's Club Team as a middle blocker. He has been the recipient of the Polynesian Tournament's MVP award from 2020-2024.

Dan took on the Head Coach role this year for our 15Us team and fabulously brought them up to a level where they could compete steadily with the 16-18Us!
Dan's game knowledge, and philosophy of "win the point", helps our teams succeed technically, strategically and mentally in each match.

We are honored to have him as a part of our coaching staff.

Technical Coach

Legacy is thrilled to have the addition of Zhedryk Zacarias "Zed or Coach Z" to our team. Zed had the honor of representing Guam in the Pacific Games in 2019 for beach twos. Currently he plays libero for the All Air Force Men's National Team.

As a coach his experience is just as matched: coaches men's and women's Air Force Base teams as well as 17U comp girls teams for a local club here in Anchorage. His expertise for defense and systems are incredible as is his vertical!

His love for the game, passion for Christ and seeing competition boys volleyball come to fruition in the state are his driving force!

Technical Coach

Coach Robert Hall comes to us with over 10 years of competition experience! Robert has served as an Assistant Girls Varsity Coach to both Grace Christian High School and East High School within the last five years.

As an outside hitter with setters hands, he sets the example of versatility in the game that every young player needs to develop! His ability to understand the game as hitter, back row defensive player and a setter is paramount to help our players see their need for skills development in each area as is needed to compete at the club and eventually collegiate levels.

As soon as Coach Robert heard that there was a competition club starting for young men here in Anchorage & that we were keeping it Christ centered, his hand was raised! He brings this same enthusiasm to his coaching style; jumping in to help with the finite technical adjustments or building confidence in each player to them to their breakthrough, he's there for it!
